Privacy Policy
- You don't make an account and we don't ask for your name or email to play.
- Your progress is saved in your own browser. We never receive it.
- The game is paid for by ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show and measure ads, including personalized ads where the law allows and you agree.
- Our server and Cloudflare see basic technical data (like your IP address) to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- We do not sell your personal information for money. Ad cookies may count as "sharing" under some US state laws, and you can opt out (see Your privacy choices).
1. Who we are
TrickleDown.io (the "Game") is made and run by Shinobit LLC ("Shinobit", "we", "us"), 3400 Cottage Way, Ste G2 #14855, Sacramento, CA 95825, United States. For anything about privacy, email [email protected].
This policy covers trickledown.io and its pages. Shinobit's other products have their own policies.
2. What we collect, and what we don't
Game progress: stays on your device
Your progress, stats, settings (sound, music) and "total trickled down" are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. They are not sent to us, and we can't see them. If you use Copy save code, the code is created in your browser and only goes wherever you paste it. Clearing your browser data deletes your progress.
Technical data when you load the site
Like any website, when your browser requests our pages our servers and our content delivery provider, Cloudflare, process technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. We use this only to deliver the site, keep it secure (for example, to block abuse), and fix problems. Server logs are rotated automatically and kept only for a short time.
Advertising data (Google AdSense)
We show ads served by Google. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, similar technologies and device identifiers to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance, and fight fraud. Depending on your choices and where you live, the ads may be personalized based on your visits to this and other websites. Google acts under its own privacy policy. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Fonts
The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google when fetching them.
Share buttons
The share buttons are plain links. Nothing is sent to a social network unless you click one, and after that the network's own privacy policy applies.
Contacting us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply and help you.
We don't use analytics services on the Game, and we don't knowingly collect sensitive information.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
| Who | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| TrickleDown.io | Browser local storage (not cookies) | Saves your progress and settings on your device. Strictly necessary for the game to work. |
| Cloudflare | Security cookies (for example __cf_bm) | Bot and abuse protection. Strictly necessary. |
| Google and ad partners | Advertising cookies and identifiers | Serving, limiting, measuring and (where allowed) personalizing ads. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, only with your consent. |
4. Why we process data (legal bases)
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland:
- Delivering and securing the site (technical data, security cookies, local storage): our legitimate interest in running a working, safe website, or what's strictly necessary to provide the game you asked for.
- Advertising cookies and personalized ads: your consent, which you give or refuse in the consent message shown on your first visit and can withdraw at any time.
- Replying to your emails: our legitimate interest in answering you.
- Legal obligations, where a law requires us to keep or disclose information.
5. Your privacy choices
- Ad consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): you choose in the consent message on your first visit. To change your choice later, use the button below or the "Privacy choices" link in the footer.
- Opting out of "sale" or "sharing" (US states such as California): where our consent message offers a "Do not sell or share my personal information" option, use it. You can also email [email protected] with the subject "Do not sell or share", and we'll ask our ad provider to serve you only non-personalized ads. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out request where the law requires it.
- Personalized ads anywhere: manage them in Google My Ad Center or opt out through aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
- Your game data: delete it any time with "Reset everything" on the Stats page, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.
6. Sharing
We don't sell your personal information for money. Personal information is shared only with:
- Service providers who run the site for us: our hosting provider and Cloudflare (delivery and security).
- Google and its ad partners, as described above, to show and measure ads.
- Authorities or others when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, Shinobit or the public.
- A successor, if Shinobit or the Game is ever sold or merged, under this same policy.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
To make a request, email [email protected]. Because we don't have accounts, most data we could identify is limited to server logs and emails you sent us, and we may need details (for example, your IP address and when you visited) to find it. Requests about ad data are best made directly with Google using the links above. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
California notice at collection. In the past 12 months, the categories of personal information processed through the Game were: identifiers (IP address, cookie and device identifiers) and internet activity (pages viewed, interactions with ads). They are used for the purposes in section 2 and may be disclosed to the recipients in section 6. Advertising identifiers may be "shared" with Google for cross-context behavioral advertising. We keep them only as long as described in section 8.
8. How long we keep data
Server logs are kept for a short period and then automatically deleted or overwritten. Emails are kept as long as needed to help you and for our records. Game data stays on your device until you delete it. Google keeps advertising data according to its own policies.
9. International transfers
Shinobit is based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where required, transfers from the EEA, UK or Switzerland rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses used by our providers.
10. Children
The Game is a general-audience satire and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email [email protected] and we'll delete it.
11. Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, and we keep the data we handle to a minimum. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect what we have.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. We'll change the effective date above, and for significant changes we'll give reasonable notice on the site.
